wow ken,
that is a really nice build. if mine turned out that nice i think my motivation would hold up better to!
i cant wait to see this thing run and that layout of the bridge and caps looks great and should yield good results
cheers

Hi List & Steve-

I send to Terry a photo of where I am so far with the new sstc: <http://hot-streamer.com/temp/kch_pri4.jpg>http://hot-streamer.com/temp/kch_pri4.jpg. Two + and two - mains-capacitors are mounted on paper-phenolic blocks & interconnected with each other using copper sheet-stock & with the IGBTs with copper braid. All are mounted on the large heat-sink. The red object at the center is the Rogowski coil, thru which runs both H-bridge outputs in opposite directions. The little assembly to the left is a 0.004 ohm resistance in series with the negative mains-supply, for over-current sensing. (Perhaps it won't have too much inductance!)

The assembly is positioned about where it will be in relation to the 6T, paralleled 1/4"-tubing primary assembly which, as I have previously noted, is to fit inside an existing 12"-dia. 100 KHz secondary. I'm working on the 7"-square circuit board that will fasten horizontally onto the capacitor-blocks at the front of the assembly. All the electronics except for the mains-rectifiers, the duty-cycle oscillator and a variac will be on that. As I also previously mentioned, the bottom lip of the secondary sits on the little phenolic blocks that are attached just above the primary capacitors.

So...my motivation still holds up. (And we shall see about that, shan't we, when it comes to trying to get it to work.) If it ever does work and if I don't expire first, my next project would be to get it to run off the 500VDC converter in my Prius. Wouldn't that be a kick!
