Do what Dr. Resonance is always advising people to do while doing initial tuning of their coils. Get some 10 AWG or 12AWG insulated wire and make a quick and dirty primary coil with this. Just remove a little insulation on each turn for places to make your attachments. You can use hot melt glue to anchor the wire. It won't look so great but it will get you going in a hurry and it will work, especially with a relatively small coil like you are building. Good luck. I hope this helps out. Regards.
