1.Ballast Target was for a range of 6 to 15 amps at 240 v
2. 150 turns on the ballast , 4" by 2" CORE
3. I used an 'E' and 'I' core center winding section 4" by 2" , 2" windows
and outer legs are 2" by 2" . the movable 'I' is 2" by 1.75"
4. Not sure of current when failed , maybe 12-13 amps
5. Variac was at about 160v
6. cap is APPROX .019mfd
7.Homemade , TCBOR ,rolled poly in oil

9. Safty gap set at 3/4"
10. Yes, SRSG wa sadjusted at low variac settings
11. dont know inductance ,, 1/4" tubing , inside is about 6.25" dia. taped
at the 8th turn, which was about 16" dia at that point. I have 12 turns
available , spacing between turns about 3/8" or so.
12. No idea
13. No , no scope , or even the knowlage on how to use one

my pants coiler with little electrical knowlage , thanks again ,dave
