Lots of caps are made in metal cans. DC caps tend to be electrolytic (which
gives high capacitance in a small volume). AC caps are kraft paper/oil or
some plastic film as a dielectric. There's a myriad of design choices
depending on whether you want high energy density, low loss, etc.
