Matt, thank you very much for your calculations. I couldn't pass up this
huge hunk of conduit. My DC Cox "scrap-wire" primary is almost ready after
I splice the connections. HOpefully before I leave this Earth I'll fire
this sucker up. It's such a huge project.

Hi Dan,
Since the circumference of your form is ~12.6", you will get about 950
turns per 1000 ft. of wire. Actually a little less since you will need a
few feet for terminal connections. You did not specify whether your wire is
single, heavy, triple or quad build. (This is the thickness of the coating)
This makes the outside diameter of the wire something between .0137" to
.0159" for the sake of illustration, let us assume .014" thickness giving
you .014X950=13.3" So the coil will cover about 13.5" of your form. If
there is a tiny space between turns, it will, of course be longer. You
will, of course want to add a few inches to top and bottom of form for
adjustment, elevating the toroid etc.
Hope this helps,
Matt D.

Hi folks,
Can I use a plastic Cantex TC-2 piece of above-ground conduit for a
secondary form? It's 4" x 5' and gray.
And, how much length of this tube do you think 1,000 ft. of 28awg wire
would cover?
Thanks.
