Rich,
Paul says to thank you for your kind comments of support and to
tell you that racing was dangerous enough without trying to do it
on just 2 wheels! At least for him it was. :-) He said your point
about detergents is exactly what he meant about what is in new
motor oil. As you point out, you shouldn't put any detergent into
the environment, regardless of the source. Just because something
is legal doesn't mean it is the right or smart thing to do.
This comment is mine. About throwing "empty" oil cans into the
trash, this is a poor assumption about Paul. He used to catch all
kinds of grief from fellow racers because he was and is very
meticulous about disposing of anything and everything that was
environmentally hazardous in any way. He has never thrown cans or
bottles containing oil or other residues into the trash or dump.
Even way back then, there were oil recycling centers where you
could dispose of your used oil and containers and these are where
he took his. Ask any plumber, pouring cooking oil and grease down
the drain is a bad idea because it clogs the pipes, if nothing else.
Regards,
Debbie Brodie for Paul
