Hi Justin,
Welcome to the TCML. I think if you stick around a while you will find
that this is a great list, and a great bunch of people. Do not be afraid
to ask questions. Also, searching the archives is a great way to gain some
insight prior to asking. This list consists of the young, old,
experienced, inexperienced, and just about everything in between.
Your strategy listed below would be a great way to join this fascinating
hobby. I absorbed much in the 2 years prior to building my first coil (yet
I still made mistakes!)

information as possible on the topic and any actual building is probably
at least 6 months away. There seems to be a lot of great info on the net,
but if any of you have any links or books you think would be particularly
