BTW, this undertaking would be right up there with the great Pyramids of Egypt!
I can already imagine the best sellers list 3000
years from now (The Great Coil - Was It Built by Aliens?) 8-)

with a power of say only one megawatt. How big would the coil be? How
much wire of what size? Topload? Estimate of losses? (For the latter
calculating the DC resistance of the wire would give a lower limit.)
All the work in doing the calculation has already been done - someone
should take advantage of it.
