I am going to do some work today to mount my primary and secondary up
higher so that it is above my steel enclosure. My gut feeling sez that
things might be a little too close. I noticed that your capacitor is much
smaller than what everyone else uses for DRSSTC work. I don't know if that
is a problem, and I am trying the same thing myself. I am going to start
with this 30nF pulse cap that I have here. It is much easier to work with
this cap that I have already, rather than to shell out more money for more
caps right now.
I also thought of an easier way of tapping this primary that I have
already, rather than building another one.
If I were you, I would put some ultra fast catch diodes across the fets.
Something like MUR3060 or something. You don't want the MOSFET body diodes
to act as catch diodes, their turn off time is too slow.

Sue,
Yes indeed.. But I AM pulsing the coil,
circuit at http://www.roffesoft.co.uk/tesla/sstc2/sstc2.pdf
I've beefed up my FET protection with a set of diodes from the
outputs of the bridge to the supply rails, and replaced the Blown Fets. My
next run will be with a CT to check the primary current is not beyond the
FETS capabilities.
