If you didnt smoke your transformer on that one I wouldnt go much more than
a 1/4 inch or less with something to provide quenching. Also, make sure you
have safety gap/gaps and you should build a Terry Filter. I use a sucker gap
with 1/4" gap with my 15kV/90mA. Here I am talking like I know something...

Maybe thats why i blew my coil. I had the gap going until it wouldnt spark
anymore....it was about 1 and a 1/2 inches maybe even 2 and it would spark
once or twice. with 1 inch that thind sounded like gunshots. Maybe my caps
are more than i need.
