Re: homemade transformer

Hi Bobby,

I was just wondering how you intend to obtain 15 kV
at 500 mA (7.5 kVA) from a 120 volt at up to 20
amps (a mere 2.4 kVA)? I'm afraid the even the
best designed transformer in the world cannot put
out more real power than it draws from the wall.
If you COULD figure a way to do this and capitalize
upon it, you'd soon rival Bill Gates in personal wealth!
You would pretty much have to use a 240 volt circuit to power the input of a 7.5 kVA transformer as it would
have to draw over 60 amps from a 120 volt circuit to obtain this much output.

Hi Jim/everyone,
I am perferably looking for plans to build a
transformer with an imput of 120v 5-20Amp and an
output of around 15kv and at least 500mA. Sorry for
the confusion ;-)

Bobby,
