Yes, and radio hams still use tube linear amplifiers quite a lot. There are
plenty of tubes still being manufactured by various Russian and Chinese
outfits, and the amps (both RF and musical instrument) are still in
production too.
Tube linears are bigger and heavier, and maybe a little more power-hungry
than solid-state, but they have their advantages. The output circuit of a
tube amp can be tuned to match the antenna load, so you don't need a
separate antenna tuner. And it's a lot easier to replace one burnt-out tube
than 16 burnt-out transistors.
Ideally, I would have the best of both worlds, a tube linear with a
switched-mode power supply =/
