Some of my rotary spark gap designs and other information
and spun aluminum toroids can be seen at my website at:

Whatever material is used for the rotor disc should have
three characteristics; 1) High mechanical strength, 2) Good insulating
abilities at high voltages, 3) Resistance to heat.
