think i killed my nst's

I wired 2 of my nst's together and ran them on my coil and they worked for 
about 1-2 min and then nothing all i could hear was the buzz of the nst's 
the way that i wired them was i first cut the cord on them where they plug 
into the wall i then striped back some of the wire connected the ground's 
(green wire in the middle) to each other then i connected the positive of 
one to the negative of the other and then proceeded to wire one plug to the 
both of them after that i took the secendaries and found the two that would 
pull an arc from each other and wired them together and then wired the 
other two together and made sure i could pull an arc between the to set's. 
once i did this i went ahead and wired them to my coil i do have to say 
that i was impressed with how much of a difference that it made but like i 
said they only worked for about 1-2 min's then i got nothing but a buzz 
coming from the two nst's did i wire these wrong and is there any way to 
save them? Thank's  a Bunch jimbo
