Matt,
I recently measured the secondary resonant frequency for the same toroid
with a solid center disk and then with three thin aluminum support ribs and
could not detect a measurable difference. I prefer using ribs as it makes a
lighter topload.
I believe the effect of a disk above the secondary will have negligible
magnetic coupling.
