method to the madness...hmmm... well I used a lot of trial and error.
what I did was to choose a number of turns, wind a half inch count the 
number of turns and find out how tall the sec coil will need to be. The 
other thing I considered was that the height for nearly all other coils in 
my power range are very close.
oh and I forgot to mention that because my sec coil is so tall I now use a 
45*cone pri coil. (better coupling)
works like a freaking champ!
