Measure it on the primary side.

You can make up a new dial for your meter indicating sec current if
necessary.  Just use the standard math to figure out your sec currents at
various pri currents and make up a new dial for your ammeter.  This
technique also works for potential.

We use standard 150 VAC meters that are calibrated in kiloVolts to monitor
sec potential.  I try to set the scale so that 120 VAC input gives exactly
14.4 kV sec indicated potential in kV.
