Yes, typically. Compare the gate charge/capacitance of the FETs to the
IGBTs. If the IGBTs are higher, then you will need more current to get the
same rise/fall time.

Some IGBTs that I've seen include zeners on the GE junction - check the
spec sheets and see. If they aren't included in the package, it would be
safer to have them.

A lot of IGBTs have faster diodes so it isn't necesary. Again, check the
spec sheet for the IGBT, and compare the reverse recovery time (Trr) with
the diodes that you're using.
