Terry,

Thanks for making the videos. I missed the episode, so I really appreciated it.

I could tell that throughout the entire run, she was getting shocked, but was trying to maintain a good composure. She would particularly would get a jolt each time the light bulb would change its brilliance. I could see right through the act because I remember seeing the same facial expressions, and body twitches that I have seen once before. To be exact, it was in the mirror a little over a decade ago when I was very young and stupid! I used to take streamers to a piece of metal held in my hand. Thankfully, like most of us when we first start out in coiling, I was running very low power because the big stuff was very hard to come by for the uninitiated. This is not the case anymore with modern day coiling, and the age of Ebay, so it has become more dangerous for the new coiler with too little knowlege, and too many toys.

For those that are curious, it goes like this: No spark gap is perfect, not even a rotary. Each time there is a little glitch in the firing, you feel it big time, and it isn't pleasant! As someone else stated in the other thread, it can cause you to twitch the wrong way, or drop/throw something where you wouldn't want it to land!

One thing I noticed that was wrong is that they were saying that she, and the platform were at ground potential.

Happy Holidays,
Sue

Hi Chip,

Thanx for the tip. The show was run again a bit later on, so I got it on
tape.

For those of you who missed it, here are some screen shots and downloadable
videos.
