Steve: Any splice is better near ground popential. Splicing magnet wire is
dificult and requires a holding fixture. sand or file the wire into a taper
at least 10 x diameter long and clamp the tapered edges together ,flux, and
solder the joint smooth with no sharp edges then insulate the joint with a
good laquer coat. While spliceing is NOT recomended it dose work if done
well.
