Hi All,

Got lucky today at the sign shop. I was looking for two 12/60 NST's and
the shop didn't have any working ones. I then was allowed to go thru their
scrap tranny bin. It was full of ballasts and various voltage NST's, with
lots of 30mA's with cracked bushings, dead windings, ect. The guy asked me
if I had a screwdriver to take apart an old xfmr box. I wipped out my
Leatherman and opened the box. To our suprize, we found two cardboard
boxes each containing one, brand new Allenson 12/60 NST. He asked what the
date code was, and it was 0390. As he couldn't install them in a new sign,
I was able to get them for $25 each.

Any Fox Valley area coilers should stop at Appleton Sign and hit that scrap
bin, before they scrap those 30's. Depotting and repackaging may get you
some cheap non-GFI trannies. Appleton sign is just off hwy 41 and Prospect
Ave in Appleton, just south of Pierce MFG. (look for the fire engines)
