Instead of trying to pull a nearly impossible vacuum (all the components
would outgas tremendously -- all good HV components are baked out prior to
vac. pull) why not just build a large container of acrylic and
overpressurize it with 2-3 PSI of sulfur hexafloride gas?  Good insulation
and no high vac. problems to solve.
