Hi Dan,

The copper globe will work, but should be larger in diameter than your coil.
Polish the globe to a mirror finish with a polish that has a surface
protectant and only handle it with gloves and it will take a long time to
tarnish. (years)  I have used steel spheres that would rust quickly until
polished to a mirror finish.  After that all I would do is wipe them down
with a light coat if oil once a year.
