I actually got reminded tonight of the power of
real lightning: a tornado carrying thunderstorm
cell passed through Madison, WI just a few hours
ago.

I spent most of the last few hours sitting on
the porch watching beautiful cloud-to-cloud
streamers light up the night like it was day.
Also the occassional blinding power arc to the
ground, all to the tune of the local air raid
siren :) The most powerful lightning I've
ever seen.

I had thoughts of pulling out one of my older
coils and running it in the driveway to see if
I could tempt one of the REAL streamers to it :)

Then I decided that living is better...

Supposing one could protect a coil from the
affects of pouring rain and wind, wouldn't the
large ion field around the toroid be a nice target
for lightning?
