What happens when you put a tesla coil in a Faraday Cage?
Neglecting the detuning effects of the cage the Tesla coil should behave
much the same inside the cage as it does outside.
Where does the
> energy go?
Assuming the Faraday cage is connected to the grounded return lead from the
secondary,
virtually all of the energy transmitted by the coil -be it by sparks or by
electromagnetic effects- will be intercepted by the interior surface of the
cage and flow back to the secondary as a current in the ground lead.
Apart from the fact that the output of the Tesla coil is high frequency AC,
what happens is almost precisely the same as in a normal electric circuit
where a voltage source such as a battery is connected to a load such as a
light bulb via feed and return wires
What happens to florescent lights in the cage?
Fluorescent lights in the cage would light the same as normal.
