Re: Problems with SRSG on TC

Sounds to me like the motor is slowly slipping sync. I've noticed with my
SRSG that if I set the variac about 10 volts too low (from where it solidly
maintains sync) the rotor will slowly slip from pole to pole. The rate of
spin when this occurs does not seem to be steady (not exactly 3599 or
similar rpm). It tends to stick at the poles, where the rpm is probably very
nearly 3600, and the motor sounds 'happy'. Then as it slips to the other
pole it sounds 'unhappy', the motor is straining to regain sync, and it
flips to the other pole rather quickly (the rpm is probably dropping well
below 3600).

So, if you're running on a variac at lower than the normal operating
voltage, trying cranking it up another 10 volts or so. If you're already at
full voltage, you probly need to remove more material from the armature.
Thats my guess :-)
