You can build up something from lots of smaller blocks, or, check the yellow
pages/paginas amarillas/classified directory/whatever it's called in your
neck of the woods, for big blocks of foam. (indeed, listed under "foam")

They use it for insulation in building and for making floatation stuff.

Since TC'ers tend to be scrounging types... check with a boatyard.  They may
have scraps.

You could also use foil/foam board (also conveniently available in 2" thick
panels) and stack it up, then finish with the electric carving knife.

Scrounge for that knife... it makes foam work a LOT easier...
You also should pick up a "surform", a sort of cheese grater looking thing
that is great for foam.
