I played with a rotary gap and the noise the gap made went way down when the
coil was in tune. When tuned almost all the noise was from the streamers.
The whole coil makes a nice buzzing noise when operating, but still requires
earplugs.
When out of tune, the spark gap made awful amounts of racket.
