Another approach to toroids

Hello Coilers,

With it being a rainy day here in South-west Ontario, I decided to get
busy building a pair of toroids for my next generation Tesla coil that
my friend Heinz is collaborating with me on.

Rather than using aluminum dryer duct as I'd done with my previous two
toroids, I used some 5 inch stainless-steel chimney liner. It's a lot
more durable, but admittedly a bit more of a challenge to work with on
the bending issue. I covered the tubing with one layer of duct tape
to smooth out the corrogations, then applied adhesive backed aluminum
foil tape over that.

The completed toroids are very solid and have a pleasing appearance to
them, with just a slight ripple to the surface. Not quite up to spun
toroid standards, but certainly much easier and not near as demanding
in the labour department. It's another option available to those of
us who want to build "reasonably good looking" toroids for our coils.
