Useful info about getting 'scope traces in this thread.  Having burned out 
a few cheepie vintage Heathkit 'scopes during the learning process.  How 
about a few tips on 'scope protection? Everyone knows not to directly 
connect a 'scope to a coil unless you have a 
super-duper-deluxe-ultra-high-voltage probe ---voltage measurements. It 
would be nice to be able to capture the waveforms without endangering the 
'scope. I won't even keep my expensive digital scope in the same building 
as my Tesla coils, because of fear of trashing it. (Yes, I know---Faraday 
cage!)
