Hmmmm...that may be true, but I am running 4 gaps with
my 12/60 6" system and I am getting 43-45 inch arcs
with ease.  And I've run up to 6 with good results. 
My gaps are set rather wide though at around 1/16-1/8"
each gap!  I've run reso and LTR both with good
results with this system.
