RE: Safety Gap Importance (long-sorry)

Brett...I am glad I "saved" at least one coiler from shelling out another
$20 and going through the heartbreak of MOV meltdown. I don't have the
archive URL with me but sometime ago, Terry told a coiler the step-by-step
process to set the gap.
If you want me to go into greater detail, feel free to contact me off list.
I will jot down the URL tonight and post it for everyone tomorrow.
Important...consider making the MOV a separate or daughter board. This
permits removal of the string from the filter cicuit during the setup
process and easy replacement once the gap is set and locked.
Safety First.

I'm glad you shared this information. I was preparing
to implement a Terry Filter in my 6 inch system (I
already have the parts from Digi-Key) but I was going
to leave out or set too wide, a safety gap. I'll
definately use one now, and set it to the correct
voltage for my 12/60 NST as well. Thanks.
