To clarify
I run 6MOT's total
2 Pairs of 3 around centre gnd (usual config)
The variac can run just one side of the system with the other direct off
mains. I can do this after I've got the beastie tuned with the variac
running both sides. I do not run only the outer MOT's off the variac.

I run 11mH ballasting on both groups of 3 MOT's

The outer MOT's are in quality xfrmr oil.
