Hi Ken,

Never fear, all is not lost! You should be able to make these work, but 
you'll probably need to use at least two resistors in series to get the 
power dissipation per resistor down to 1 watt or less. Since you 
probably won't have enough resistors to do this across each cap, try 
connecting capacitors in each series chain in parallel with the matching 
caps in the other chains as shown below. Then use 2 (or more) of your 1 
Meg resistors, connected in series, across each parallel capacitor 
group. You'll still bleed the capacitors without smoking the resistors.
