Next time your diodes become friodes, try using General Semiconductor
UF4007 fast recovery (75nS) diodes. They are a little more expensive than
garden variety 1N4007, but you may find them less likely to blow as they can
handle MUCH higher dv/dt than 1Ns. I think I payed about $0.16 through
Mouser Electronics.
