RE: Ozone Masks

Adam,

I'm no ozone expert either, I just play one on TV. ;-)

You'll have to talk to 3M about the exact chemistry of the ozone
absorbing material. The masks are sold by 3M as ozone masks up 10x PEEL
(whatever that means). My stunt guys sometimes have their faces mere
fractions of an inch away from 10 footers. THEY say that the masks
create noticeably clean air. We haven't tested the masks, we're not mask
testers; we use them and notice they work. The people at 3M are very
trustworthy as a group; it's a fine company. We trust their testing
methods and published literature.

I'm certainly no ozone chemistry expert, but we use
SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Aparatus) tanks for
working around our ozone generators. Are you sure a
simple carbon filter "removes" or reduces ozone to
an acceptable concentration?
