NO, a vacuum tube Tc is opperated with a vacuum tube active device. A solid
state TC uses a transistor or similar device as the active device. A spark
gap TC uses a spark gap as the active device. An kicker coil Tc uses a coil
sas the active device. Each work differently, but they all produce high
voltage bang and pop to amuse the hobby buff.
