I wouldn't use ABS pipe.. 

1) It's black, and that's usually because they use carbon as a pigment
2) ABS DWV pipe (the kind at Home Depot) is actually a foam with a solid
skin (probe the cut end with a sharp point...)  foam is terrible
insulation.... (DWV = Drain Waste Vent)

Scrounge some PVC... Construction sites where they are doing substantial
landscaping are a good place.. they often have short pieces that got broken
on the end when somebody dropped it, and then can't be used.  They also buy
in 10 and 20 foot lengths, and have to cut it down, so they wind up with
lots of 1-4 foot scraps...
