If magnets can be used to "bias" the  source, could a strong enough magnet
eliminate the need for the DC current?

I have heard that the "NIB"  rare earth magnets  will only take  up to
around 350 degrees  and they ignite easily and burn very intensely . So they
may not be the best choice for a core
