Nickel Tube
Original poster: "Gordon Forrest by way of Terry Fritz <twftesla-at-qwest-dot-net>" <gmforrest-at-tiscali.co.uk>
Dear all,
I've got some thin walled nickel tube to diffuse H2 through.
It has an outside dia of 1.10mm and a wall thickness of 0.075mm.
I've calculated its resistivity as 35.128*10-8 Ohm m at 500'C.
With a length of 12cm I've worked out its resistance as 0.17 Ohms.
BUT this gives a current of 70A at 12V, surely this would cause
the tube to melt? Don't know where I'm going wrong. Any help would
be apresiated.
Bye for now,
Gordon Forrest
Very sunny, UK.
PS. Just been to see the Time Machine.
Didn't pick any tips up.
