Tesla Coil stops during runs!

Original poster: "tmoore by way of Terry Fritz <twftesla-at-qwest-dot-net>" <tmoore-at-erie-dot-net>

Hi all,

This is Nolan I am having a little problem with my mini coil. I set the
coil up and was running it when it just stopped. The transformer would
start humming, it is a new 7560 PG-1 from franceformer the features are
Secondary Circuit Ground Fault Protection, Bypass Switch, Auto Reset. So I
thought it was the transformer so I decided to change it so I changed it to
a 7.5kv -at- 60ma older francformer with out the electronics, but the something
happened the coil stopped running and it started humming. So I switched the
capacitor from a Maxwell cap rated at 35Kv -at- 0.03uf to another one that is
the same. Well guess what the same thing happened it started to humm. So
what's the deal here what's wrong is it both of the transformers or is it
both the capacitors. I got 1 choke one side of the transformer that is
wound with 28awg enameled wire that is 6" long and 1" in diameter. Should I
add more protection like 2 of those or what. Any help on fixing my tesla
coil is appreciated. Thanks!

Sincerely,
Nolan Moore
