ozone filters

Laser printers and photocopiers have "ozone filters" in them (my old LJ 3
had a rated life on the filter of 50K pages), presumably to reduce the
levels to safe/legal/acceptable ones. Anybody know how they work?
(Activated charcoal?, some reactive metal?) Could one rig up a ozone filter
for indoor operation (much like the portable air filters with HEPA, etc.)?

It sure would be nice to operate HV gear in a smallish room without needing
to worry about the ozone exposure (which, in addition to the health
effects, really does a number on rubber products)
