I live in an apartment as well. Whatever coil you make, find a way to RF
ground it away from the mains. And be careful of what water and sewer pipes
use. I can't run my 1000 w coil in my home - disrupts everything.

A 15/20 is bit much to haul around, and if you use it will need a larger
cap to handle the over voltage I recommend Geek caps for this,

string to deal with the over voltage.

I have a 12x12x6" high 250 w unit (twin 5kv/25s) with a 2.5" x 12"
secondary. What keeps it small are two 4" x 1" 10kv .01mf caps (a lucky ebay
find). - size matters. I use a 4.5" helical primary of 5 turns of 1/4 refer
tubing.

Be sure to install an EMI filter between the NST and the mains. And build a
protection circuit.

I am interested in putting together my first coil, but I live
in an apartment and it needs to be small. Plus, I'd like
something compact that is easy to take around and show off. :-)

Can anyone reccomend a tabletop sized coil for a first
time coiler? I have a 15/20 NST on hand, but limited
space to work.

Thanks!
