OBIT are usually 10,000 volt 23 milliamp transformers for starting oil 
furnaces. They usually run from 120VAC.
....they make nice jacobs ladders and small TC's.
I think you talkig about a Car Alternator which outputs 12V at high amp for 
recharging the battery inside a car.
