You may be getting resonant charging when using those copier
transformers with a cap of that size. In fact I'm sure you are.
This is good, because it's what's giving you the long sparks.
Your calcs may not have taken this into consideration. Your
bang size may be much much larger than what you're calcing,
so this may be the problem. You may still be overvolting the
coil bang-size-wise. I suggested one time that you wind an
extension coil of the same diameter to add about 10" more
to the top of the coil to make it taller. Did you try that adding
such an extension to the top of your coil?
