Understand. That's still almost 25 bucks worth; the stuff should cost
much less if you could find it in bulk. I used to have a 1/2 gallon can
(lid like paint can) of "Clear Petrolatum" which I picked up in the junk
at work, but heaved it out when I moved. I have a long-term project to
make up a gadget that looks like one of the fancy old spark/induction
coils, but has GMHEI inside and an SCR driver built in the base.
Figured that the way to pot the coils might be to use the vaseline, but
also worried about it spoiling the finish on the case. Your use of
metal precluded that, so guess I'll run some tests dipping lacquered
wood in Vaseline and seing what happens.
