Original poster: "colin.heath4 by way of Terry Fritz <twftesla-at-qwest-dot-net>" <colin.heath4-at-ntlworld-dot-com>

hi all

i have first light on my table top coil tapped at seven turns on the 18 swg
primary
its run from a 6 Kv 25 mA fart nst
the secondary is 2.2" on pvc pipe wound with 38 awg wire about 11" length
i am runing a .0132mf mmc tank cap
the spark gap is a five section multiple gap made with copper pipe i am not
blastimg air over it yet and i am only running three small gap as when i open
the gaps i get racing sparks down the secondary. i think i need to varnish a
bit more( to eager to see it work) if i tap a t five gaps the output is about
4-5" streamers in air poss 6" to grounded rod when i open gaps i hope for a bit
more the output terminal is a 4" spun ali toroid with a brass sphere on top
my question is if i open the gap do i have to retune the primary?
many thanks to all who helped me achieve first light
