Hi,
MOT is microwave oven transformer. Power range usually between NST and PIG, but
output voltage lower (~ 2 kV) so they need to be used in pairs or more with a
doubler circuit. They are also used as ballast in circuits with non-shunted
transformers.
As to appearance, many look like a heavy stack of metal plates wound with wire
and paper or cloth and dipped in varnish.
