RE: Program to calculate capacitance of plate cap

It should be noted that the equations for the "inverse conical coil
inductance" in the L1 and L2 calculations contains a large pri to sec
clearance difference for the spiral and helix coils. If the same R is used
for both equations the pri to sec clearance will be small for the spiral and
much larger for the helix.

For example using the JHCTES Ver 3.3 computer program default design and R =
7 the spiral pri to sec clearance is 1.5 inches. With R = 7 for the helix
coil the pri to sec clearance is 4.0 inches. This may be a problem with some
designs. Also, to find what happens with your coil and the mutual inductance
and K factor go to the on-line JHCTES computer program and enter the
information for your coil.

Hi Jason,

just use a calculator, the formula below and bookmark this site
http://home.earthlink-dot-net/~electronxlc/formulas.html

    0.22*K*A*(N-1)
C = --------------
     1,000,000*D

C = capacitance in microfarads
K = dielectric constant
A = area of each plate in square inches
N = number of plates
D = distance between plates in inches (thickness of dielectric)

Hi all,

Is there a program kicking around that can calculate the capacitance of a
plate capacitor? this is the one thing that wintesla doesnt have :)

Best Regards,
Jason
