eh. I need to find out if it worth while taking them apart? I've taken an
old GE one apart before - it was worth it. I also need to know if there's
PCB's inside them -- phillips says its very unlikely but I should get a
sample tested, picker says they all have PCB's but this could be a CYA
tactic for liability. Does anyone have experience with these makes of

Hi Shaun,
Congatulations on the x-ray unit finds. A good coiler is always happy to
get a hold of x-ray trannies, too :-) Anyway, I happen to have a large Picker
x-ray tansformer that I power my 15 to 20 kVA Jacob's ladder with and
it was manufactured in 1980 and is filled with strickly mineral-based
oil. It is my understanding that the EPA completely outlawed the use
of PCBs in 1977, so I would think that all of yours should be ok. I'm sur-
prised that Picker would say that they ALL have PCBs as none that were
LEGALLY manufactured since 1977 should have any. Maybe like you
said, it's just a CYA tactic?
